Assessment and evaluation (Including IEP: Individualized Education Programs): Keshet of the Rockies works with special-needs services offered by the Denver Public School District, together with the host school staff, parents, therapists, and others to develop an individualized, educational program for each student. This cooperation ensures children with special needs get what all children deserve: a full education, which maximizes their potential.
Consulting services: Staff Development on working with students with special needs, Bar/Bat Mitzvah for special needs children.
Community and Vocational Service/ Training: Provide vocational training and community service. Students receive training in food preparation, data entry, Judaic volunteer services in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Interns receive training in education and related services.
Data Entry training center: Keshet of the Rockies is grateful for an educational computer system, with laptops and desktops, donated by major local communications corporation. Some of our students have become accomplished keyboarders. We hope to add library training.
Interns for Integration: Keshet of the Rockies trains teen interns for integration and educational services. Some two to three dozen teens have been in the program. Some began involvement in the program for school community service requirements, many have continued involvement far beyond the hours demanded by their schools.
Keshet of the Rockies serves Jewish children with special needs of elementary and secondary school age (roughly 5-21 years). Its training program serves teen interns and other aids, and its consulting services provides or facilitates services to families and children outside the framework of its full-time day operation. Based on a recent community survey, it is estimated that there are some 80,000 Jews in the Colorado Front Range (Greater Denver-Boulder metropolitan area). The parents of some 1000 Colorado students have decided to seek a combined Jewish and general education for their children in a Day school or similar framework.
